"I Want My Son to Look Like Me"

Someone posted this today on another site so I shamelessly took it to show you all.

I can't seem to find a way to post the picture directly. This link goes to my photobucket, so it's safe.

I've seen that before, but I always get a little chuckle when I see it again.

As for 'looking like Dad', I would honestly be more than a little concerned if an infant boy had a similar looking penis to a fully grown adult.

If a man wants his penis to look like his son's, he should shave his pubic hair and pack ice in his shorts.

He wants his son to look like him so he (the dad) does not have to face his own insecurities at not having a foreskin and does not want to have it confirmed, through watching his intact son go through life without any penis problems, that his OWN circumcision was for naught.
Is it fair to put a baby through risky, nonconsensual amputative genital reduction surgery just so Dad can go on living in denial?
If they really want to match, maybe Dad could restore?

I never got this.

I have no idea if my labia look like my mother's. I barely even know if our breasts look similar - does she have pink nipples or brown ones? If hers are a different color from mine, should I have been tatooed to spare me mental anguish? Such a strange argument.

It is easier to understand if you remember that it actually has nothing to do with looks. When a man says, "I want my son to look like me" what he really means is "I want my son to have this surgery done on his penis so that I can continue to believe that when the same surgery was done on me it was a good thing and an improvement over my natural state. If I see my son grow up healthy and happy with a foreskin it will become obvious that mine was ripped from me for no good reason (that is to say the surgery actually did not "save" me from awful infections, teasing, and rejections.) Because my world-view and self-worth absolutely depend on my believing that circumcision, specifically MY circumcision, is a GOOD THING, I cannot even for a second entertain the notion of NOT doing it to my son."

Penn Jillette has a "Penn Says" episode about matching penises, but I agree with JenP that it is an excuse used to hide an underlying insecurity.
