Wow, that is such a great way to put it. Thanks!

You can do it! I had my first at home in November (he's sleeping on me in the Ergo as I type). I felt like the labor was long (19 hours what can I say I'm a wimp) and about halfway through I was so tired I wanted to forget the whole thing and take a nap LOL. But being at home in my own space, supported in whatever *I* needed to do, I never thought about drugs or transferring and just DID it. And I would totally do it again!

Labors with first babies are usually longer, but that doesn't mean you are taking any kind of risk by having a homebirth. My first labor was a lot longer than my second. I don't think that really means anything. He cames out, no complications. Honestly, I think the only thing that would have stoped him from coming out would be a doctor putting on a latex glove to "check" my dialation. Or the fear of intervention I would have weighing me down in a hospital.

If you want some major encouragement, read Ina May's Guide to Natural Childbirth.
