Ingrown Toenail removal while BF'ing?

I have been battling the worst ingrowns on both big toes since my pregnancy with dd1 over 3 years ago. I have been going to my podiatrist to have him trim & file for 3 years now which doesn't provide much relief, doesn't last long AND costs a $50 co pay a pop. He said he was hesitant to do the actual local numbing shots, killing the nail bed solution until I was done bf'ing/pregnant but that is a long way away & I can't take it anymore.

Is it safe to have a numbing spray on my toes, a couple local shots (assuming it's novocaine or something similar) & whatever liquid they put on the nail bed to kill part of the nail?

I am a big follower of Thomas Hale but I didn't notice novocaine listed in the analgesics forum. And I have no idea what the stuff they would put on the nail bed would be called.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I just got the 2010 Hales today! Novocain is listed as L3 but not tested so it says no data but no likely transfer. Half life is 7.7 minutes, I'm not sure I've ever seen one so short! I would guess the procedure is probably safe similar to a dental procedure. I would look into what they put on the nail bed, even if it is just so you know!

thx pbjmama!!! i'll call to find out what else they put on the toe & look it up.

Been thinking about getting the Meds & Mother's Milk for my iphone...I think it was about $40. I need to find out if that will give me new editions for free??? I am not a professional but I can't count the # of times I am out on his forum as a guest for myself or a friend.
