I had my DS in 8/08. I nursed him for about 3 months, but he had major suck/swallow issues, and he would still be hungry after nursing for long periods of time. His energy would become so low he'd fall asleep. I worked with a couple different lactation consultants & his pediatrician, and in the end started to pump b/c we were able to better help him swallow with the right nipple. I continued to pump until 8 months.

Anyway, thats the past. I'm due with #2 in November, and because my DS & I had challenges, I'm working harder to prepare & educate myself now. I know to some extent its training the baby once it's born, but in the meantime I was wondering if anybody had any good articles/books/links/ or advice they wanted to share with a mamma trying to educate and prepare herself for breast-feeding!

Thanks!

Go to some LLL meetings before baby arrives - that's always a good preparation, get to know other breastfeeding mothers, get lots of support and information plus you establish a relationship with the leader so that if any problems come up you can get to the bottom of it fast.

"Making More Milk" is a good book for covering all the things from all perspectives that contribute to increasing and decreasing milk supply. "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" is a good overall book. For early BFing though, you can't beat having a good LC there ASAP to check things out and then again if there are any problems.

And yeah, the two websites already posted I used quite a bit and still use on occasion.
