At what point did you gift thanks to your midwife?

When do/did you give your midwife a gift of thanks & appreciation. Directly after the birth or at a postpartum visit? Are either appropriate?

DDCC We gave gifts to the midwife and her student at the last appointment, when DD was 6 weeks, as a thank you (beyond thank you, of course ) and goodbye. I think either would be appropriate. I am sure even if I'd had something immediately after the birth, I wouldn'tve thought to give it to her but I am sure it would be nice either way.

I didn't even think about the gift after the birth and I wanted to be in a clear state of mind(and the MW as well) when I gave it to her and thanked her.
(My birth was at 130am...hence the foggy brain....)

i was actually wondering what to get for my midwives. I think that the last postpartum visit is appropriate to give a little present and a thank you but I am not good at picking out gifts.

After my last birth we gave our beloved mw a beautiful wind chime. She LOVED it as she said they get a whole lot of baking which isn't so great for the hips! LOL

My MW had a 10th anniversary as an IM party when i was nearly 39 weeks, so we actually gave her the gift then. It was a Howes Birth Mirror.
