8 month stats

Thread Starter
Can anyone post their babies 8 month stats. My son is so small is worries me. ped saw him at 6 months ( she is very pro breastfeeding and okay with just breastmilk till 1 year). Thinks he is okay and didnt want to see him till 12 months as we aren't vaxing.. at least not yet.
Birth- 7 lbs 9 oz (19.5 inches)
12 days - 8 lbs 3 oz
6 weeks- 10 lbs 5 oz
2 months- 11 lbs
4 months 13 lbs 9 oz
5 months 13 lbs 14 oz
5 months + 3 weeks- 14 lbs 11 oz
6 months + 6 days 15 lbs 2 oz (25 inches)
8 months 15lbs 12 oz ( 26 inches )

He is totally breastfed... He eats an occasional cheerio or bit of a cracker thats pretty much it. He turns his head away at every thing else which is fine by me.
My dd was small too (10% for a long time ) but even she was bigger than he is/was and she was a whole lb smaller at birth
Dh and I aren't huge... He is 5'7 144 lbs and I am 5'6 and currently 127 but usually 112 lbs.
He is crawling, ( has been since just before 6 months) and standing so developementally he is above and beyond... he is just so short.. I think his shortness bothers me more than the weight. He is 3rd % for height and 10% or less for weight. ( I can't remember if that is the regular growth chart of one for breastfed babies)
Would you be worried???
According to the cheeks and thighs test he is plenty nourshised and has chubby thighs and cheeks.

my ds was 27" (7th %tile, down from 20something at 6 months) at the 9 month appt, we didn't have an 8 month. he weighed 19#13oz after nursing, which also fell in %tiles. eta he was 9lb 8oz at birth, and no I did not have gd.

I worry about him too, because he is so short and growing so slowly. I am short though so he might just take after me. it is pretty scary to watch him fall down on the curve. he has only just started to be interested in food - no purees here. before he just played with food, but now he has decided that feeding himself (with a spoon even!) is lots of fun. I thought he would never eat but didn't push the issue.

as long as he is happy, meeting milestones he's ok.

My son is 8m and he weighs somewhere between 22-24 lbs... He breastfeeds, takes organic formula with his caregiver, and eats crackers, fruits, veg.... anything he could get his hands on if I would let him!!!

He was large at birth, though 8lbs14... same size as his daddy when he was born....

He wears 18mo-2yrs size clothes! I figured he was just super big for his age!!

As he as gotten older, I pretty much have accepted that most babies are just perfect the way they are!!

My son is 8 months, he was weighed a week ago and was 19lbs, and 28 inches, he is in the 50th percentile. He eats everything and anything. A typical day he nurses probably 6-10xs a day, plus he eats any food he can. I work 3 evenings a week and those nights he gets a bottle of pumped milk(8oz), a bottle or 2 of og formula and whatever food he can have. He burns it all off, he is a mobile, very active baby.

FWIW-I'm one to believe that kids follow their parents growth wise, my DH and I are both larger than average and so both our kids have been also. DD was in the 90th for as long as I can remember. My BIL and SIL have tiny kids, their son sounds much like your son, he has been and probably always will be more petite. Your DH is 5'7" and 144, sounds like your son is following in Daddy's footsteps to me. My BIL is the shortest of his brothers, so it's not surprising that his kids are smaller than ours. DH is the largest of his brothers, though not the tallest, he is the biggest. I'm the biggest of my sisters, so it's not surprising our kids are taller and heavier than average, or at average.

I think growth charts are just another form of stress that Dr's inflict on parents.

Just from this reading this I am starting to think stats are all made up! My DD is 8 months, 20lb 2.75oz and 28.5inches and we were told her height is 91% and the weight is 83%...but how then could Norasmomma be told with similar stats and her % so diff?? Hmm do diff docs use diff stats?

I think each babe is different. Sophia was big at birth and continues to be big, her feet must weigh 1lb each, they are huge lol.

I think part of the difference is because they have different charts for boys and girls, so a girl with the same weight and height as a boy would be in a higher percentile.

As far as my kiddos...I think DS was about 19ish lb and 28ish inches at that age? and DD (older one) would have been like 14-15 lb and maybe 26.5 or 27 inches at that age? I know he has steadily been around 50-60% since he was an infant and she has never been more than 10%.

I'm not sure why you're worried. If your baby acts normal, eats, pees, and poops well, is active, is meeting milestones, etc. And you've had regular check-ups and no flags have been raised for your dr, it seems like all is well.

My kids are big, so I've never been in the position of worrying about their growth in that way. They were premature, though, so I was hypervigilant in the first month or two. Both of my children have gone through phases when they didn't gain weight for a while...I'm not sure if that has happened with length/height or not.

The do use different charts/statistics for girls and boys, so a girl of the same age and size would be in different percentiles than a boy.

not just gender but a half inch is a huge difference percentile wise at this age

////ds was 7lbs (born at 36,5wks) and 20,5 inches - 8mths - not quite 15lbs and 28,5 inches - so not on weight chart - neither was ds1, and 75-80 for height which has stayed consistent.

///same - ds rolled over and back before 3mths, craling a wk before 6mths, now standing and starting to cruise - he eats well, nurses a lot, poops and pees and is just skinny - so no am not worried - dr. doesn't like to use the charts - she looks at proportions in size instead (we go to a unicef child/breastfeeding friendly clinic

At 10mo my DD is only 27" tall. There are a lot of short people on my DH's side so I don'r expect her to be that tall. Some kids are simply small, there's usually no reason to worry.

It's based on gender, my DD was the same way, she was always in the 90th. DS has been heavier then she was until now and has always been in the 50th.

But both my kids have huge heads, they both have been 95th percentile.

My daughter was 9 pounds 2 oz at birth. She was weighed with her cloth diaper and light clothing at the end of may and weighed 19 pounds. I don't know how tall/long she is. If I were you I wouldn't be worried as long as he is growing and developing which based on what you posted, he is. He is just petite. Be happy! He will seem like a baby for longer and it won't be so hard on your arms and back to hold him!

My DD's stats are in pink next to yours. She's a lively thing, hitting milestones appropriately and wetting/dirtying diapers. I don't think you have anything to worry about
