getting the "musty" smell out of wooden blocks

hello! We picked up a small container (bucket-sized) of wooden blocks at a thrift store recently. I thought they were a good purchase 'til I got a good wiff. Whew! Musty! When we take them out to play with them DS makes a big "sniff" sound. They are natural colored/no paint. Does anyone know how we can get rid of this smell? Thanks for any tips!

I would put them in a sealed container with a vinegar-soaked cloth for a few days, then set them in the sun for a few days. I don't know if it'll work, but that's where I'd start!
