when the sprayer fails..

so. the sprayer is pretty good, sometimes, but we don't have enough water pressure to get all the stuff off the diaps with consistency.
are there other tricks you guys use? (i'll go ahead and say that while i am not grossed out by the poop i will do anything- even risk harm to my washer- rather than dunk n swish. no way, not for me.)

i thought about using a spatula. would that work? is there a better way? or.. let them dry a bit?

we just started solids, so..

thank you for any advice!

I'm a fan of the Imse Vimse Flushable Liner. You can cut them in half w/ smaller babes.

The thought of using a sprayer grosses me out so we never went that route.

You could just get what the sprayer gets and then wash the diapers more frequently with fewer diapers in the wash. On our washer we do a quick cycle (35 min) with no detergent, just to wash out the extra poo and stink, then a full heavy duty cycle with detergent and vinegar (65min) and then another quick cycle. If you don't overload the washer, that should get all the remaining poop out of the diapers and the washer. We do it this way for 2 year old poop and newborn poop.

I do what Nicole does. I spray it all off as best as I can, but I'm not ridiculously diligent about it or anything. I just do a cold rinse first to get all the excess off. I've never had a problem.

I recently got a front-loader HE washer. I'm still not sure whether to trust it to rinse off the excess solids since it uses a lot less water.

Does anyone find it works just as well as a top-loader? What's your experience? I just started CDing (TODAY, in fact!), so I'm trying to figure out what will work best for us, too!

I took my DS's dirty diapers outside to rinse them on the grass with the water hose to get the remaining solids off. I'm NOT a fan of doing that every day! So, I got online and found some biodegradable, flushable liners, which should make getting rid of the solids a little easier!

I have a front loader and use pocket diapers. I use a soak setting for 2 hours that swishes them and add 1/2 c. borax. Then I do a hot heavy duty with extra rinse. I use borax in this cycle too. This method has been the best so far. Just started solids too. Use a flushable liner when I remember. Today is the first time I've heard about a spatula. Gross, but intriguing. Might give it a whirl (or a scrape I guess).
