Hope For Those Mammas Who Had Issues With BF Early ON, and THANKS!

Thanks to the support of this board I have made it to 6 months EBF today!!!! (although we are now going to start my son on solid foods as well and I am actually feeling pretty sad about that....but that is another post all together...lolol)

So- if you are a new mom reading who is having problems with BF'ing--just know.... YOU CAN DO IT!!!! I had mastitis and every problem under the book within my son's first two weeks of life-- feel free to read my previous posts and you will see what a difficult time I had (and how much anxiety I had!!!) (oh wait-- you can see from my posts that I STILL have a great deal of anxiety...but about other things now....LOLOLOL).

My point is that you can do this if you want to, and there is always hope. I thought my milk supply was gone forever after my bout with mastitis right after my milk came in-- but it can come back with a lot of milk, sweat, and tears! My son went from losing weight and going down to 6lbs 9oz (from 7lbs 4oz at bith)-- and now he is over 18 lbs all from BM.

So-- don't give up---come here and ask for support!!! It helped me to EBF my son like I had always wanted to do!!!! And I am proud that we are at the 6 month mark!

Thanks to all who have helped me thus far...and who continue to help me in this wild journey...

Congratulations to you mama! You should be so proud of yourself for sticking with it when times were tough. There are many, many women who give up with the first sign of any trouble, but you did not.

I was like you with my first DS. Every problem in the book for the first 6.5 weeks. I cried every single time he had to nurse because it was torture for me, but he was gaining weight even though he was destroying my nipples and boobs. Finally something clicked and things started getting better. He nursed for 26.5 months. Here is the great part...when my second DS was born we had ZERO problems from the start. So there is hope for second babies to be better nurslings from birth. I've experienced that!

Way to go!
