Why is my stomach hurting so much?

I'm 35 weeks, and yesterday my stomach felt pretty tender to the touch and "heavy" or "full" is the best I could describe it. Today it is VERY tender, and it hurts to move, hurts when it gets mildly jolted, baby kicking hurts, and standing feels like it's putting a LOT of pressure on my stomach. When I'm sitting or lying down it is mostly painless, although I still have that "my stomach is overstuffed" sensation.

I don't think it's contractions because I don't feel hardening and the pain doesn't come in waves, but what is it? And what can I do about it? It is definitely overpowering my nesting instinct!

Does it feel like it could be your tummy muscles? I had this kind of pain in late pregnancy and it felt like my tummy muscles had been pulled (like too many crunches) but more widespread due to them being stretched.

You could try a light massage with some massage oil. That might help

I have a hernia and it feels exactly as you're describing. I also have the separated stomach muscles thing but my midwives say that doesn't cause pain. The pain I have is from the hernia.

Too much Google Could this be a silent abruption or am I being totally paranoid?

I think when you have pain that is consistant and you are unsure you are better to go with caution and at least put a call in to your Care Provider.

It is likely just late pregnancy discomfort, but there is always the chance it is something more serious and it's probably wise to be checked than risk taking the chance.

Yes, I agree with the pp, definitely worth getting it checked out. I was pretty uncomfortable by 37 weeks and even my hernia is a result of my stomach muscles being stretched and weakened. It's probably nothing serious but when in doubt, call your provider. That's what they're there for.
