Want to make a boo boo spray

I have some small blue glass bottles I used for face spritzer, which I made using aloe vera gel and lavender essential oil. I was thinking of making something similar for a boo boo spray.

Sometimes when we are far from home and DS scraps his knees (very common in dirty parking lots) I attempt to poor water from my water bottle over the wound and then slap a band aid on. Sometimes it doesn’t even get cleaned before the band aid and we need to fix it up once we are home. Love removing those band aids…

Also, we are going on some trips and campouts this summer and would like it for a general first aid kit. Was thinking: Spray to clean/disinfect, salve for healing, bandage. I have salve and bandages. Spray might be good for sunburns too.

Does this spray seem like a good idea and what would you put in it?

Thanks!

Just a silly note, my 10 month old son calls nursing boo boo and I thought you may be wanting to talk about spraying breast milk as an on the go spray for cuts.

I’ve looked around at ones herbalists are selling. Here are some popular ingredients:

Bases: distilled water, aloe vera gel
Antiseptic: Alcohol (might by from tincture), witch hazel
Herbs: Oregon grape root, calendula, echinacea – sometimes these were listed as tinctures, sometimes it didn’t say
Essential oils: lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus, clove – the clove was for numbing, the others for healing properties

Of course I have no idea what amounts to add. I am thinking to avoid alcohol/tinctures - wont that sting? What about witch hazel - does it sting?

I'm thinking the best way to do this would be just a witch hazel spray to clean, you could put on an herbal salve after that. Good stuff for the salve would be arnica, tea tree, calendula, and lavender.

for sunburns straight vinegar works great. It does make you smell like vinegar though...

I don't use a spray, I use hydrogen peroxide to clean a wound (if you blow on it continuously it won't sting). But if I was going to make a spray, it would be a very diluted GSE/ water mix. GSE kills more things than alcohol even. It is used to clean hospital equipment in some countries I have read. Not sure on dilution though. I would make it in a small batch too. I have some really small old cleaned out Cloraseptic spray bottles (from many yrs ago. before I was natural) that would be good. That may be an idea for glasses cleaning for dd1 too. My antiseptic salve (use it whenever you would have used neosporin) is just organic coconut oil and tea tree oil. I use it for cuts and scrapes, nasal irritation, vaginal itch... I get the oil warm so it is liquid and mix in tto until right strength. I make it weak in jar (for dd1 cuts) , then mix in more drops in lid with some if I need it stronger (if I need it).

it really is highly recommended that arnica NOT be used in open wounds. even in tiny cuts.

you could use calendula, lavender essential oil, and comfrey.

I recently watched a Mountain Rose Herbs how-to video on You Tube on how to make a comfrey salve. They stated this could be used for insect bites, scraps, etc.--something like neosporin. Would be a salve instead of a spray, but was easy, easy to make! Here's the link-
