moving from hammock to crib/mattress/anywhere?

My 1 year old is sleeping in an amby baby hammock... he's approaching the weight limit and he finally tried to get out of it... he NEEDS to sleep somewhere else. Problem is, the only way I can get him to sleep is to use the hammock to bounce him. I can get him to sleep in my arms by bouncing him (still swaddled) to sleep on an exercise ball, but other than that I've had no luck (well i can nurse him to sleep, but only cradle hold... if i nurse laying down he wakes on un-latch. EVERY. TIME. ... and if i try and put him down anywhere other than the hammock that bounces on put-down, it doesn't work.

I'm at my wits end. I've tried everything I can think of... we have a nighttime routine (ok a short one, but we're consistent) but NOTHING seems to work.

Has anyone managed to wean off bouncing to sleep this late in the game and have any ideas for me????

thanks so much...

My 8 year old sleeps in a hammock- she doesn't sleep well unless she's in that nice enclosed rocking space... you could always try hanging a normal hammock inside to see if it works for you (we started with hers just a few inches off the ground.)

Her nearly two year old brother loved to sneak into her room to crawl up into her hammock for a rest... he never tipped or fell- even as a pre-walker.
