my daughter deserves better than this!

i went to my DDs GI Dr. yesterday...the medical assistant/nurse or w/e she is asks me how i have stuck to that diet (serious elimination) and i said it was no big deal for me b/c i am so passionate about bfing and i plan to nurse her for years.

She "informed" me that nursing beyond 9 m/o was bad for my DD and that my daughter deserves better than that! Then she says she made the mistake of nursing her daughter till she was 2 and it ruined her daughters life! she was like all her teeth fell out and she could hardly eat. i was like well if you brush her teeth she would have been fine...and the APA reccomends nursing until at least 2 y/o so i will defintately be nursing until then and she was like oh and where did you read that and i said their website and LLL told me and shes like oh yeah the internet thats credible. then as shes walking out of the room she says oh that poor baby being forced to nurse so long!

needless to say i reported her...if i wasnt who i am i might have believed her being a first time mom and all! i was calmly flipping out about the situation to her boss...

way to go for speaking up! That is wonderful that there was a superior that listened to your concerns (the reporting part). It is shocking how many 'health' workers do not know about true health, even the parts made public by the World Health Organization (whom I do not agree with entirely, but at least they are promoting breastfeeding until age 2)

as angry as i am she said that to me i am more angry for the other women im sure she has said that to that listened! i was very surprised she said it all b/c she was an immigrant from Brazil and i know alot of brazilians who breastfed beyond one year certainly and was under the impression BFing was the norm over there...

i had to speak up about it. people like that make me sick! depriving a baby of breastmilk is not the answer to anything...i always explain it to people as BM is a home cooked organic dinner vs formula which is more like a meal from Mcdonalds...which seems healthiest to you? sure you can survive on Mcdonalds but you certainly wont be your healthiest.

after 1 yr of age your "suppose" to have cows milk is what she said to me as well and she was like she needs milk after 1yr but not yours...i looked at her and said oh ok so she should drink cow's breastmilk instead of human breastmilk? she was like yes. WOW lol idk how people came up with this nonsense!
