Another steam mop thread

I finally broke down and bought a steam mop. I got a Bissell. I tried it last night, and am not loving it. The floor doesn't seem any cleaner than when I used my regular mop, and is streaky.

Does anyone have a Bissell? Do you love it? Would the streaks be from build up that I haven't gotten off yet?

I am thinking about returning it, but Amazon is going to charge me a 20% restocking fee because it is opened. I haven't called Bissell about it yet.

Any advice?

I bought the Bissell and I like it, although I have been using the regular mop lately just because I think it's quicker. I only got streaks with the bissell when I sprayed too much water, leaving the floors too wet. Otherwise, it makes my floors look awesome.

I've had a Shark steam mop for 6mos and love love LOVE it. No streaks, floor is super clean, pads are easy to wash.

This is what I have and love, too - so no experience with a Bissell.

Hope you figure it out or return it for something that works better for you.

Thanks for the replies. I tried it a few times and always it left streaks on the hardwoods I called Bissell twice, and it didn't really help. After I used it on my hardwoods, I mopped with my regular mop (one of the ones where you spray on a cleaner and it has a microfiber cover) and got off dirt that the Bissell didn't get off. <sigh> so that was disappointing.

I tried it on our slate floors (which are horrible to clean), and it worked pretty well. Maybe the slate is just too dark for streaks to show up, but it got alot more dirt off than off the hardwoods. Since it is going to cost alot to return it, I think I will keep it for the slate floors at least (entry, laundry room, and bathroom). Maybe I will keep trying it on the hardwoods, too. I *want* to love it, lol...
