leak proof night dipe for 4yr old

My son is 4 and wears a diaper for night time. He was leaking out of all the cloth combos I tried so we bought some disposies but he is leaking out of those too.
We've tried to limit water in the evening but he has major constipation issues so if he wants to drink we don't want to discourage it either.
He's a heavy sleeper so I don't see him being out of a night time dipe anytime soon so I'm willing to spend some $ to try some more cloth. I have no idea what to try though.
We've used HH o/s, fuzzi bunz, blueberry, applecheeks, fleece covers over the pocket and I've stuffed up to four inserts ranging from microfiber, bamboo, hemp. Is there a cloth solution?

What do you have him wearing to bed now? I am in the same boat with my daughter who is 7 and did not have any luck with any of the trainers I have tried in the past. They just werent absorbant enough. Are you using pull ups or dipes at night?

My 4 year old wears a snap=ez pocket in a Youth Small size. You can stuff it with whatever you have to try, but we use 1 toddler prefold and 1 microfiber and it is working pretty well.

For disposies we've tried all the big brands and have found the best luck with a in-house brand from our local grocery store.
I have several different pockets, I guess I should just keep trying diff stuffings. He's a very heavy wetter though.

Have you tried a wool soaker cover?
My DS is 2.5 and not that heavy a wetter, so YMMY. However, wool absorbs like nothing else and is pretty easy to maintain once you know what you're doing.

He did go through a really wet phase (he had better control now) and I found that Huggies Overnights worked fantastic as well.

LOL, our store brand works best too! My 6.5 yo ds leaks fairly often though and he has been trained to strip his bed and bring it down to the laundry room for probably a year and a half now.

Sometimes we can get him up at 10 or 11ish and get him to go in the toilet and this helps with the volume- when it works. He never remembers it though.

I've read that having them wait longer to go pee during the day can help "grow" their bladder capacity. With my dd, then 8, I actually measured the volume of her bladder to see if it was small. We were on the fence about taking her to a doc so I was trying everything I read about at the time: even visualization before she went to sleep at night.

I like what my SIL does w/her son. He has a sleeping bag instead of sheets/comforter since he's in a top bunk and it's so hard to make those beds. He brings it down each morning to put in the wash. There is just a vinyl (I think) mattress cover on the bed.

I haven't tried them, but bamboozles are supposed to be great -- I would pair them with a wool cover and maybe add a doubler.

I would recommend whatever kind of insert you want, large cloth dipe, training undies or disposable, and then try a Dancing Bear fleece cover. They come in cute colors and we've NEVER had a leak on our bed.
