I feel lost.

I would really like some advice, or someone who has gone through the same thing...just something!

My cycles are super irregular. I have gone 6 months without having a period. I finally had a normal period the beginning of April. But, haven't had one since.

I have started taking vitamins and have been for about 3 weeks. I am taking:
Vitex
Calcium
Folic
B6
B complex

Ughhhh I just wish my body was normal. I don't know what to do! Everytime I go to the doctor they try to put me back on birth control which I do not want to do! sooo frustrated.

i dont really have any advice, except that there is a thread here for ladies with looooong cycles- have you read through that or asked there? and re: your doctor- you've told them you want to ttc, right? if they cant do any better than that, you may want to find a new doctor. i would think you'd need some bloodwork, look at thyroid, talk about clomid or other meds, investigate the pcos possibility, and more. if he/she isnt taking you seriously, find another!

You are trying to TTC right? Does the doctor know that? I ask because my experience was the doctor brushing off my very long and irregular cycles when I was younger and not trying to get pregnant, and I went on the pill. But now that I'm TTC she took it more seriously, gave me my referral, and now I have a diagnosis of PCOS and a prescription for clomid for next cycle.

So yes, I have been through the same thing. I know what you mean about wishing my body was normal. The vitex may help, I have been taking it for a few months now, and I think it made some difference. I got my period a lot quicker than usual, and even though I had an anovulatory cycle, I still ovulated the next cycle, less than 2.5 months after the previous time which seems some small improvement. I guess my advice is, start charting if you aren't already. You will get long frustrating charts that aren't even close to fitting on the fertilityfriend screen, but it would be useful for you to find out if you are ovulating rarely, or never. And tell your doctor that you are TTC and rarely get periods. If they aren't at all helpful, go get a second opinion. If you already have an indication of a problem (like rare periods!) you don't need to TTC a year before looking for answers.

Hope that is a little helpful.

Coffee.... hang in there, girl! Now I understand why all the other threads got bumped!

There are lots of us here that suffer from long cycles. Have you had your hormone levels tested? I have higher levels of testosterone and have found that spearmint tea helps shorten my cycle. Exercise and eating right are always good, too.

I have heard that vitex caused problems for others. Be careful with that.

There are many of us long cycle sufferers around here. Join us in the long cycle thread. It tends to drop off every so often, because we go awhile without any new news, but everyone is very supportive.

coffee.

TCM (traditional chinese medicine--acupuncture and herbs) has really helped me. I never had a 6 month cycle. But 40 days was not that uncommon and I had the occasional nearly 2 month one. After a few months of the TCM I was having pretty regular 30-31 days cycles.
