I might have, but never truly tested for it. I did have a HUGE baby with my 6th at 10lbs 9oz and I was a canidate for it at the time since I was obese.

So if I did I didn't know it, and we're all fine.

I did. Kept bG controlled w/o insulin; dd#2 was big (10+ lbs.), but so was dd#1! We were all fine.

I am slightly overweight. Diabetes does run in my family, but I have always maintained a low carb/sugar diet. Are GD tests ever inaccurate. I wonder if I had it for a while and just didn't know it since I maintain a diabetic diet anyway. I think my body just doesn't know how to handle that much sugar at once. That syrupy drink was awful. My readings where in the high 100's for all four tests. Today I started using a glucometer and the readings were all low. 89,95,106 so who knows? Guess, we will see. Guess if I am going to birth at home just need to be a little more informed and prepared for complications that might result because of GD. Thanks, guys.

I was (and am) very overweight, and also have a family history of diabetes (I went on to develop t2 diabetes as well). I failed the 3 hr. gtt by a much higher margin than you did. I was already eating a low-carb diet, and my after-meal numbers, while not as good as yours, were fine.

The complications that care providers worry about, as far as I can remember, have to do with the size of the baby and the baby's blood sugar after birth. If there's a chance that the mom had undiagnosed diabetes before pregnancy, there is a possibility of heart defects, but since I knew that not to be the case for me (I'd had bloodwork within a couple of months of getting pregnant) I didn't worry about that. Both my girls were over 10 lbs. -- I had gd with #2, but not with #1 -- and because I knew my diet was good and I'd already given birth to a large baby, I just didn't sweat that aspect. I didn't really worry about her bG after she was born, either. She began nursing very quickly and never seemed to be struggling. We took her in at 4 days to her (ap-friendly) ped, who didn't seem the least bit worried about how things had happened.

HTH!
