Teeth grinding

Since DS's top teeth have come in, he's constantly grinding his teeth. Anyone else? Will this stop eventually once the novelty of it goes away?

My DS did this for about 2 weeks. . .I hated it! I think it was just a novelty thing though, he has stopped, hopefully for good.

My kid did this as well...for over a month. But it stopped thank goodness!

I've been wondering this too. He's been doing it off and on for weeks now. He also likes chewing on my Kleen Kanteen... the bottom of it, not the spout. The noise is grating, and I worry for his teeth.

Yes! DD is doing this though its subsiding somewhat. She never used a pacifier, but I offered one just to let her chew on it to help with the sound (it was making my skin crawl).

My DS started grinding all the time once his first 4 teeth came in. My ped said to give him a pacifier, but DS doesn't do pacifiers, he thinks they're for chewing on and throwing on the floor. Fortunately, he's pretty much stopped grinding. It was like a 1 month fad for him, now he's mostly over it.

we gave a pacifier just for chewing and they also make them for this too, you can find them at toys r us, with nubs and bumps...we used whatever would work. She chews on everything and rips things across the teeth too! But the grinding ended. We checked with our dentist about it and he said at this point it is normal and no need to worry. Apparently it harms my ears more than her teeth!

thanks for the responses and the tip about the pacifier. ironically, he used to take a pacifier and has recently started rejecting it. he has no interest in chewing on anything anymore, really.

My son does it every time he's getting a new tooth. He seems to stop a couple days after the tooth comes in. Drives me nuts. He'll even do it in his sleep.

No additional suggestions, just sympathy!
