Thanks for all the replies! We both just got super sick and had to put any kind of weaning ideas on hold. But after last night I'm looking into it again. He didn't even go to bed until midnight (my fault, I missed the 'sleepy window') and was up like clockwork, every two hours. However, I noticed this morning that he had a diaper rash developing so I think I really need to look into the EC/diaper side of things and see what I can do about that. I'll still be getting up, but maybe if I'm not nursing so much at night, he won't PEE so much at night and the cycle can slow down, if not end. Thoughts?
jennybear-- I actually have tried moving him out, but I just ended up getting up to go get him. Didn't seem to make a difference. It's been awhile since I've done that though, so maybe I'll try again (which breaks my heart!). I'm wondering if he needs less stimulation at night because he'll go down for a nap with virtually no trouble at all. All I do is give him a pacifier and his snuggle blanket, lay him down in his co sleeper (converted to the pack and play so he doesn't jump out of course) and walk away. He just burrows contentedly and drifts off for a good 1-2 hours. His naps are shorter if I let him nap next to me while I catch a few z's. I think he's definitely old enough that I don't need to worry about him sleeping too deeply or too long...
mamazee and dhalialia--DH does take him on weekend mornings a lot, which is wonderful. I just wish he could take him overnight on the weekends so I can get some quality sleep, but DS is quite annoyed if he gets a bottle shoved in his face in the middle of the night instead of the squishy boob he's used to. He has no problem with a bottle during the day, of course..
ktmama--those sound like good rules! the pressure one I'll have to work on...
clemrose--thanks for the validation. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.
