I am living in Turkey and want to set up an online business where I can sell baby products.The brands I want to sell are not in the market here,I will import them from Europe or USA.I have recently contacted a few companies and asked to be their sole distributor for this area.They either want you to be a bigger company who has plans for their product,they want to know your key accounts etc etc. or they want you to buy their proucts in very big quantities. It is quite reasonable for them but I can't do this at the moment. I am only starting up.
One of them told me that most of their distributors started as regular wholesalers.
If one day they appoint a distributor for this area,then I have to buy from them.
So,what do I do now? Do I start as a reseller and go with the flow? Of I do this how will I protect my business?Do you think the fact that I am importing these products will put off others?
Or am I better off not to start without having an agreement with the manufacturers?
Please help me decide ladies.
