Later this fall my daughter will be 6. We started Ancients this spring, and we'll be continuing through it throughout 2010. Looking at our schedule, it looks like we'll be covering mostly Ancient Greece and Rome, an intro to the Americas, with a little review of ancient India and China. We're using SOTW.

For 7th grade we're doing ancients (with History Odyssey & a little SOTW, too).

For my 4 yr old, we're trying to learn what the word "yesterday" means.

For my 9 year old (will be in 5th grade) we'll be continuing with Joy Hakim's History of Us. We finished up the Revolution and early post Revolutionary times and will be picking up where we left off, unless he reads ahead during the summer.

We'll be doing SOTW with my 7 yo 2nd grader (her k12 history followed the same timeline, so we'll be picking up after the crusades).

My 4 1/2 year old K will be doing Five in a Row for literature, so we'll just do the social studies/history type stuff that comes with that, as much as he is interested. He might listen in with 7yo's SOTW, too.

We are covering Colonial Times right now. This may run into the summer depending on their attention, then we are going back in time, to the beginning and moving towards Colonial Times. We reversed order due an opportunity that arose.
We are using USBORNE Books as our main source.

We do a pretty holistic approach, so Math, Science and Lit rolls into our history topic. For instance, we are learning about archeology and anthropology, plus the math that corresponds with the time period, so basic weights, measures of the time and current weights/measures. My 8 yr old is totally digging this and it is going well.

I am working on different ways to get the 5 yr old involved. So far, she is so, so about it. Her attention is shorter, which makes doing lessons together a bit tricky.

The 2 yr old joins in as she it interests her.

We did the American history through the civil war this year. Next year we will begin where we left off and continue to present day. I don't plan on going deeply into current political/economic issues. We will also study our state history next year.

My girls are 10, 7 (8 in Oct), and 4. They will be grade 5, 2, and prek. I will do the above with the fifth grader. The others will get parts of it. But, my 2nd grader will do more of a cultural studies thing next year.

I also hope to do geography with each of them.

ds(almost 6) doing kindy this year we will mostly be focusing on American history corrolated to specific holidays/seasons- as well as personal family history(geneology)

Probably just going to read through "A Child's History of the World" together, watch lots of documentaries, and focus on a few biographies (I'm thinking Mother Theresa, Gandhi, whoever else she's interested in).

We're doing American History. We're going to use a combination of A Young People's History of the United States, the Story of US DVD, history pockets, and other hands-on stuff I haven't come up with yet. DD will be 2nd grade.

We did ancient history (prehistoric people, Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, Japan, and the Vikings) for 1st grade. For the summer, we going to do the Middle Ages since some friends of ours are medieval reenactors and we are going to one of their camps.

Next year, we are going to cover the indigenous people of our state (also DH's culture) and the colonization of the US. This area played a huge roll in the Revolutionary war so we're going learn about that, I'd like to get up to 1800. I use a lot of books and DVDs from the library and field trips.

We're doing Sonlight core 1 books (ancients through the fall of Rome) without the IG. We'll also be working through US History (explorers through... ?)

We're supplementing both threads with History Pockets (Ancients, Life in Plymouth Colony and Native Americans), DVDs and whatever else looks fun

We used Winter Promise - American Story 1 this year and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. My husband thinks that we should introduce some World History before delving too far into anymore just American History, so we are going to start Story of the World 1 and then pick up with AS2. My DS(7) is a HUGE history buff and would do it all day!

SOTW 1 here (for first grade), with literature and copywork tie-ins. My son completely fell in love with notebooking when we did the Usborne encyclopedia's prehistory section, so we'll continue with that. If we can't get involved ina science co-op, then we'll tie in some science/engineering concepts as tehy come up in ancient history, because I HATE science overview courses at this level and my ds will be off not having one at all then doing experiments with a mommy who is oozing tension from every pore.

This Summer we are doing units on Native Americans, and explorers.
This Fall through Spring 2011 we will study U.S. history--colonization through 1800, using TruthQuest History, history pockets & Drive-Thru History. I am purchasing the audio recording of SOTW (Early Modern Times) for my boys to listen to and discuss, but we won't study it per-say. My boys will be 3rd and 1st grade. My 3yo will be read some of Ingri and Edgar D'Aulaire's books and participating in the hands on activities/lapbooking.

We're (8 & 6yo) doing History Odyssey Middle ages this year... with a bit of an Australian history study planned in our last term SO far so good, I think most little boys love knights and castles and such so it was kind of a no brainer for me

We'll be doing Story of the World: Ancient Times with my 10yo, 7yo and 5yo. (I imagine my 3yo will be running around the house and jumping on me while I try to read.
