Phew, the pinching!!

Mr Grabby Grabby hands here has started pinching my flesh while nursing. First it was breast tissue, so I'd tuck his arm under mine... and then he'd pinch that soft area at the back of my arm! Yeowch!
My other son insists on either playing with my brastrap or rubbing my shirt on his nose.

So... I decided to try my first "redirection" attempt, and bought some silk hankies from Dharma. I think that might be a good solution and introduce some (easily replaceable) lovies at the same time. Lol. Still dreading the teeth, but that might be another few months.

I'm not sure if I'm going to dye them or not yet, as I don't want them to get mouthed up and bleed dye all over.

What did you do with pinchers?

I'd like to know too! My 10 month DD has been pinching the inside of my upper arms, and now I have small bruises on both arms, ouch! I try to gently re-direct her, which sometimes work and sometimes doesn't... she's starting to get a bit defiant about it though. I'm thinking about trying a lovey as well.

After reading all the pinching/twiddling stories here and to hopefully help her self-soothe back to sleep, I introduced a lovey (one of those small blankets with an animal head) during nursing and to sleep with at about 4months. So far (at 6.5months), she is happy to play with that with her hands when she is in a grabby mood, she will occasionally try to grab something else instead, but takes redirection to the lovey just fine. And if she is grabbing her own clothes or ear or my clothes, I don't worry about it, but I have tried to set a rule of no grabbing/pinching mommy's skin from early on to hopefully prevent problems.

I also do pin her one arm underneath and have done that from the start too so she would hopefully get used to it and not mind. She's gotten much wigglier lately and will sometimes get it out, but generally she is fine with it being pinned.
