Could he be cutting teeth soon or just a droolin' baby?

My 3mo DS has been drooling a lot lately and loves having his little fingers and chubby hands in his mouth all the time. And he 'talks' - coos' while he does it. It's so cute. But I'm wondering, is this a sign that he'll be cutting teeth soon or is he just a drooling baby? I don't remember my ODS drooling this much or loving his fingers/hands this much as this age!

Well, my ds cut his 1st tooth the day he turned 5 months, and his 2nd the very next day!
My dd has been drooling like crazy since about 8 or 9 weeks, but no teeth yet. She is doing the hands in the mouth, too. She's four months now, so we shall see if any come in soon.

It may be a sign that it is coming early. Our son was born 1/25 so if yours is 3/3 that makes yours 37 days younger. Ours started doing about the same around a month ago, and now his teeth are definitely showing. He seemed to be in the most pain about a week ago actually, and while he still drools a lot and seeks the counter pressure ("can I chew on your wrist daddy?") he doesn't seem to be complaining as much at the moment, so I think the painful first breakthrough probably occurred a week ago. Some babies they come early. I was apparently a baby that got his teeth early myself, and even at six months there's photos of me with a very toothy smile.

Yeah, DS loves to chew on my hand, knuckles, fingers, etc., too and chews on them pretty hard for being a 3mo! No pain just yet, I mean, he hasn't been super fussy or anything. But he did just go through a BIG growth spurt - eating a lot more often than usual. Hmmmmmmm......

On the other hand, my DS did this too--chewed on everything, drooled a ridiculous amount, etc--starting at 2 mos old and didn't cut his first tooth until his 11 month birthday. Everyone predicted he'd be an early teether, but apparently, he had other plans.

3 months is also time their saliva glands are starting to work. There just wasn't much saliva before

my 12 wk old is also loving chewing on his hands and also drools a lot! I saw these wooden teething rings in a store that look pretty cool- he's not quite into putting things in his mouth yet (other than his hands, my breast or the paci) but when he is I may use those if he likes them.

My guy started doing that around 3-4 mos. The ped said that it was developmentally normal and didn't necessarily indicate teeth. He didn't cut his first tooth until about 7 mos.

Both my kids started drooling around that time as well. My DS cut his first tooth at 4mo and DD was 4.5mo, so it's totally possible. Really though there's no way to tell until the tooth actually breaks through.

At 3 months I had to put a bib on my son to keep his clothes dry from all of the drool! A month later he had two teeth.
