The Sun came out and suddenly my children have forgotten we own a TOILET

Summer is creeping up on us FINALLY.
So the kids are outside playing a lot! My children who rarely had potty accidents are now peeing (and sometimes pooping) their pants daily. The surprising thing is, it's not only happening outside. It's like they've completey forgotten that we even own a toilet! How frustrating!
DD (4) actually went outside the other day and peed behind the front door and then came inside and said "I couldn't make it to the bathroom Mom" - hmm...maybe that's because she went the WRONG DIRECTION. Oh heavens! How do I deal with this? Take away outside priviledges??

I'd start reminding them a lot, and making sure they try to go on a frequent basis.

Honestly, I tried taking away outside from dd...the only thing that has worked at all is to totally act like it's normal, get her a fresh pair of pants and underwear and tell her to change if she needs to. And walk away. (oh and no she doesn't go anywhere till she does)

she will argue the point and try to say she sat in water or something.

with the 'new' method, she seems to be having less accidents and I'm not at all stressed.

Sounds like a classic case of Spring Fever. Sadly, it doesn't go away. As they get older they daydream while looking out windows and start skipping school to go to the beach.

As a PP said, I'd go with lots of reminders. One of the things we do with DD (3) is make sure she goes to the bathroom before we go outside. No exceptions. She knows it's a house rule, and it's eliminated most problems. If she's outside for a long time, I will sometimes have her take a potty break, with the promise that we'll go back outside. She doesn't always like it or want to stop what she's doing but it's for her own good (and saves my sanity, too).

I take a potty outside and I allow peeing in the grass.

Mine is allowed to go behind trees. That way she can stay outside for hours and hours.

i like the idea of trying to get them to go before they go outside. i have'nt really made a big deal out of it just made them change etc...it's just super annoying. i guess i'll try not to let it bother me too much.

The other day my son got up from the couch, walked out the front door and peed off the retaining wall onto the sidewalk! I can't imagine what the neighbours thought! I wasn't home at the time, but my husband was pretty surprised.

I once came downstairs to find the front door wide open with a trail of clothing leading outside. My son had stripped off all his clothes, walked up to the tree in the front yard, and peed. He was about 4 at the time. He said grandma said he could pee at the tree in her yard. Grandma doesn't live in the city. Grandma lives in the country on four acres. It was really funny. I was just glad he realized he had to pee and did it somewhere other than his pants. lol.

We always go to the potty before going outside and then I remind them after a while to see if anyone needs to go. Then we go again when we come in.

the sun is just so nice who wants to go in to have to use the bathroom

last night dd (3) watched the pee run down her shorts less than 2 feet from the door. dh was about to react and i just said.."apparently this is a common problem." to which he of course responded that HIS kids don't do it...hahaha (which is funny because i'm pretty sure dsd (3) peed her pants 3 times last weekend). I really don't have a problem with the peeing outside (i do live on half acre) its just...why can't they pull down their pants lol
dh is worried that toilet training ds will think that he doesn't have to use the toilet if his sisters keep this up.
*sigh*

I can't keep clothes on either one of my girls, and the 3 y/o pees whenever and wherever she pleases. *I* could care less, but my hubby and the neighbors (my brother/sil & my parens) are having problems with it.

It doesn't help that it's been insanely hot here the last week or so.
