Anyone have trouble losing pregnancy weight?

I am still desperately trying to lose all of my pregnancy weight. I have a great diet and exercise but the weight will not budge. I am just wonding if this has happend to anyone who has done CLW? Does it become easier to lose the weight? Do you need extra calories the whole time you nurse? I really can't stand the thought of struggling to lose this weight for a couple more years (until after weaning) but I don't want to give up nursing either.

Because this is not specifically a child-led weaning issue, I am moving it out to Breastfeeding, as per the forum guidelines.

are you sure you're eating enough? your body is programmed to be extra sensitive to times of starvation. I was having trouble managing my weight post partum, but I found adding back in about 500 calories a day, my body is letting go of a lot of the extra body fat.

I always get fat when breastfeeding. Something is wrong with my metabolism. I eat the same way I did when I was pregnant, which is plenty. I only gained about 6 pounds during my last pregnancy and the baby was over 9 pounds. I only lost about 12 pounds with the birth and it was all back plus about 6 more pounds once she was 2 months old. Usually around a the one year mark my body starts letting some of it go.

You may also want to start taking some ioderal to support your thyroid. Thyroids often get wonky during/after pregnancy. Mine did and that is one contributing factor to my metabolic issues.

I am not familiar with ioderal. Please tell me more. Is it available OTC? Isd it safe to take if my thyroid is ok? Wher can I get it? Thanks.

It is available without a prescription. I buy it online and it is inexpensive. Just take one a day and see if that doesn't help. If you type in ioderal different sites that sell it should pop up.

I think that some women need a little extra fat while breastfeeding. My mom didn't lose any of her pregnancy weight until we weaned ourselves. Then it just melted off in a few months. How many months pp are you? I didn't really start to lose weight until about 12 months pp. Now I am 5 lbs shy of my pre pregnancy weight. Definitely get your thyroid checked. Hypothyroidism is one of the most common diseases in women.

My DS is 19 months. This is why I am so frustrated. I would be fine if I was only holding onto the last 10 lbs or so but I am at the weight I was before giving birth. It's like I lose a little and then always come right back to this weight doing the same things. I've been hearing to eat more fat a lot. Some advice I've gotten is to cut out dairy, grains and legumes. I always thought grains were good for you? We eat salmon and use EVOO I also take fish oil. Any other suggestions on good fats? How much fat should I be eating per day I wonder?
