So I've been suffering from hair loss for a while now. My dr ran some blood tests (Thyroid, iron level, hormone panel). The only thing that came back not normal was the hormones - my estradiol level was low. So, ok, that is very likely the cause. But, I'm also now wondering about my iron levels. All he said was "iron is fine", but at the time I didn't know to ask to have my Ferritin level checked, and from what I've read a lot of drs test hemoglobin but not ferritin. Now my dr is out of town for several months and I also don't have a dermatologist appointment until 3 months from now.
Soooo...
I know it's a bad idea to just start supping iron if you don't know you're deficient. But is it safe to start eating more iron-rich foods? Specifically I'm wondering about taking Blackstrap Molasses. Is it dangerous for me to eat too much?
