Cast Iron Question

after washing my pan I heatyed it and rubbed it with oil like I always do, but it turns out i used rancid oil (my sister had given it to me, thanks sis) , now all my food tastes like rancid oil and my kitchen smeels like bad oil. How do I remedy this?

You can strip (forgot what the word was) the seasoning off of your cast iron by heating it really hot and then rubbing coarse salt all over it (use a thick towel or a bunch of paper towels so it doesn't burn your hand). Do this several times until it seems like the seasoning is gone, then you need to wash and reseason.

Boiling water in it for around 10 minutes can help leach stuff out of the iron too - salt would help most with any residual smell, so periodically afterward you might want to use it here and there.
