does your baby do this?

I'm starting to worry a little bit. She is 8 months old, has very good control of her head (turns her head in all directions), but when she gets tires she leans her head on one side... also when she stretches her neck when she wants to reach something very far, her head sometimes flops a tiny bit... not always, very rarely.

I've been to two doctors, one pediatrician and a chiropractor since her birth (because I thought she preferred one side when she was sleeping, also she has a very mild flat spot) they all looked at me like I was nuts and very politely explained that baby was ok, the flat spot was so mild that I was almost the only one who could see it, and it would go away... They also said there was no problem with her neck muscles...

I'm looking for similar stories; I'm wondering if there are other babies who do this... I will probably mention it to my ped next month when we have our appointment. I would very much appreciate your answers.

I don't notice that it is consistently to one side, but ds drops his head when he is tired or reaching too far. He's 8 months. It doesn't worry me, but you should follow your instincts.

Our baby is 11months and started doing this very thing at about 8 or 9 months. When she wants something/is reaching for something she tilts her head far over to one side so her head is practically resting on her shoulder.

It looks weird to me too. But I think it is natural as she does not have anything wrong with her neck and can turn her head every which way without problem.

Our friends baby (who is 6 weeks younger than ours) also has started doing something similar. Babies are weird little beings.

BOTH of my kiddos, right around 8 months, developed weird head tics/jerks/shivers and I, too freaked! I even videotaped them and took them to the doctor because i was so worried. Apparantly is is normal 8 month old behavior. I would say if shes still doing it at a year give the doc a call

thanks for replying guys, I'm glad to know it's normal.

Just wanted to bump this thread, maybe other people have similar stories to add...

DD does this as well, and she's been to a chiropractor and an ND as well as a craniosacral therapist all who don't think it's a big deal.
