I usually walk my dogs around 6, 6:30 in the evening, but today, I'd fallen asleep on the couch around 5, and was still sleeping at 7:45. Around 7:40, I hear first one dog, then the other, stir, and come over to me. I didn't realize it was so late, so I watched them out of the crack of my eyelid to see what they were doing, while I woke up at my own pace. This is what I saw... first, Tara, came over and stood at the side of the couch, then sat down and looked back around at Princess. Then, Princess came over, stood with her front feet on the couch, put her face about a foot from mine for a minute, then backed up, stood next to Tara, looking over at Tara. Then, Tara, stood up and leaned forward, and kinda looked over at my "sleeping" face and still body, and then sat back down and looked at Princess. Princess gives Tara a quiet "woof" and comes over to the other side of Tara, closer to my face, puts her paws back up on the couch so she could reach, and sniffs around my neck and ear and head, being careful not to actually touch me, and then backs up and looks at Tara. Tara looks at Princess, whines (as quiet as possible) at Princess and looks me over again and sits down and looks at Princess. Princess stands up again with her front feet on the couch, looks me over again, and backs up next to Tara again, looking at Tara and giving her a very quiet growl. So Tara whines at Princess and looks me over again... and Princess growls at Tara and looks me over again. This goes on for two or three minutes, 'til finally, Princess growls a little more seriously at Tara, Tara makes that "hhhhuh" sound that dogs make when they sigh, and then Tara climbs up on the couch with me and starts gently pawing at my arm and licking my face, wagging her tail and looking sheepish! Now tell me that wasn't a case where they were saying, "YOU wake her!", "No, YOU wake her!" It was priceless!
