To be honest, I'm afraid I'm going to puke it all up. I'm still feeling pretty sick all the time.

If you do, they can wait another week or two and try again. Perhaps the level of your pukeyness is another reason they're having you do it early.

Yeah, nausea was the only real sign I had that I might have a sugar problem. Lo and behold, I failed the test and have GD. Really though, if you're worried about false positives, skip the 1-hour screen and go right for the 3 hour test. The 1 hour can get more false positives, the 3 hour rarely does because its so involved. At least then you can be sure if you failed it you REALLY have GD.

Lots of people puke up the glucola. Does your dr. allow the jellybean substitute? It's worth asking, as the study that legitimized it was very publicized, very legit, and should be well-known by most OBs. The one perk of the jellybean test (in studies) was that it reduced the amount of sickness/vomiting experienced by the moms.

Google "Jelllybean GD test" and you should come up with the journal article that started it all. All you need are Brach's standard jelly beans (or any variety that is 14 jellybeans per 150/140 calorie serving).

OR just ask to do the "breakfast version" if you request that you just have to eat toast and eggs and drink a glass of orange juice I believe. You don't have to do the sugary drink (it is really nasty).

I'd avoid the orange flavored one, it gave me such horrible heartburn. Why can't they just let us drink a soda instead (I know some moms wouldn't like that either, but at least I enjoy a soda!)?!
