I am new to sewing CDs and I have no idea what kind of elastic to get! I will not be serging edges. Thanks!

Elastic

I use braided elastic from walmart about 1/4".

Back and forth over the end of the elastic to tack it down

Pull elastic tight as you can and zigzag over it. Tack down the other end.

Or with a casing

Tack down one end of the elastic. Feed through the casing. Pull it tight as you can. Tack down the other end. I think this way makes for a more asthetically pleasing look.

Turning PFs into contours or fitteds or using as soakers?

Have you done this? I want to make my PFs a little easier to use but I am scared to cut them up! I am new to sewing so it has to be easy. Also, I do not have a serger...

First, if I start out with just turning them into contours, what is the best way to cut them to be sure they fit? Do I need to finish the edges and if so, how?

Second, if I want to make them into fitteds, is that too hard? Are there any patterns and/or tutorials out there? Do I have to have a serger?

Lastly, I am thinking of sewing up some diapers out of some cheap flannel and using my old orange edge PFs as the soaker layer in the middle. But how do I cut the PF? Am I cutting out the middle, thicker, layer and if so, do I cut along the outside of those middle seams or what? Do I need to do anything to finish those edges or no since it is in the middle of the diaper anyway.

I would appreciate any advice you have!!! Thanks so much!
