Feel like I was kicked in the crotch.

For over a week now I feel tremendous soreness/tenderness in my groin extending to the muscles at the very tops of my inner thighs. It seriously feels like I was kicked in the crotch or like I have been riding a horse. Is this common? Is there anything I can do about it? Ugh. I'm so tired of it.

I would definitely see a chiropractor. You may have some issues relating to the normal loosening and stretching, which could be putting your pelvis out of alignment. A good prenatal chiro can help a lot!

See http://www.icpa4kids.com/ to find prenatal chiros in your area.

I had this as well from about 14-25 weeks. A chiro and acupuncturist really addressed it as well as making sure I wasn't sitting on hard surfaces for too long. a snug fitting bella band also helped. It cleared up and I don't feel it like I used to, but it was rough there for a bit. EXACTLY as you described it.

I have had this feeling for several weeks now as well. I saw a chiro, which helped for a few days, but then I was right back to being sore. I guess it is normal stretching of the area and getting ready for baby.

There's a name for it: pubic symphisis dysfunction.
Good info: http://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org/pubicpain.htm
Also, excellent book: "Relieving pelvic pain during and after pregnancy : how women can heal chronic pelvic instability" by Cecile C.M. Rost

I have dealt with this much. I heope this info helps.

sounds exactly how I feel and I have it too.

I wear a belt, avoid walking too much and try to avoid seperating my knees very often (like walking on stairs and such)

Oh wow. Reading that makes me feel like a huge wuss. Mine isn't anything like that bad. I don't have trouble lifting a leg or spreading my legs and I certainly wouldn't describe this as serious pain, just tenderness/soreness. Goodness. Looks like I should just be grateful it isn't worse. I am waddling, but that's about the only adjustment.

Only you can judge the amount of pain you are in, but it is good to know how to avoid making the problem worse.
The website I posted has good suggestions for moves to avoid. Even if you are feeling kinda OK now, that doesn't mean that it will stay that way the whole pg. The pg before this I had serious problems w/PSD, starting at about 8wks pg. This pg, carrying twins, I am only noticing issues the last 3-4 wks, and I am 36wks. And I am carrying twins, so you would think I would have more issues than before. SPD can be really weird and the symptoms can come and go. Knowing how to cope with it can make a huge difference.
Sorry if I scared you or gave you too much info!

It's all good. More information is better than less.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, it's NOT SPD. SPD is right up in front, on the pubis, and is a ligamentous instability.

What I've got, (and i think you're describing) is pain up underneath, like that horseback riding soreness/hamstring soreness/groin pain, and is muscular. I've been getting internal pelvic floor/pelvic musculature release done by an awesome chiro, and that relieves it. It's the inner pelvic muscles straining against the loosening pelvis. Very different from SPD, and very treatable.

That sounds way more like what I have. So basically, I need to find a chiro now too. Man! All this stuff to do!

Fortunately, you are in the bay area and there are some really good ones. If you are in San Jose, I can give you the name of my chiro there and she will be honest as to whether or not she can help... Just PM me

Wild Feminine, by Tami Kent, gives some pretty good instructions on how to go about self treating. I enlisted the assistance of my trooper husband to help me out yesterday, as trying to find an angle to do it myself isn't worth the effort right now.

It might not be a CHIRO you need specifically. Mine happens to specialize in this work (her mom is a midwife, and she's really a crusader for women's health issues), but there are also PTs and other providers who are trained in pelvic floor treatment.
