Hello from WV

Since my main pregnancy symptom (so far) seems to be insomnia, I thought I'd network. I'm a first time prego in morgantown, WV, just about 8 weeks along. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to choose a doctor or midwife. If nothing else, I figure I can just open the phone book and start calling people, but any input would be great. Happy Saturday!

Hiya!

I lived in Morgantown until December and still have lots pf friends there. We had our son at Ruby (my husband and I were grad students and grad assts, so it was pretty much our only choice financially) The midwifes there, with the Center for excellence in women's health, were WONDERFUL. And a good friend of my just had son with them and had an emergency c after a placental abruption- and both of us had great experiences with the pro- breastfeeding staff there. However, i know lots of my friends who had a choice loved the midwifes at Mon and one did a home birth with someone from bridgeport area.

We had a great doula, but both of the local ones seemed greatand i would say go with the one who you are most comfortable with if that is something you decide you want.

Finally, definitely check out the LLL league meetings in Wiles Hill once a month and Mountain Spouts meetings and the Prenatal (and Postnatal mommy& baby) yoga at Body in Balance in Star City.

Morgantown is a great place for finding supportive natural minded people to support and share with, enjoy.

I spent lots of sleepless nights here when I was pregnant with our four (9, 6, 4, and 2 years old).

Hi!
We're over near Harpers Ferry...so not terribly close to you, but welcome anyway.

We stopped at Morgantown during our vacation in May so the kids could get their wiggles out at the M'town Mall.

Hi! I'm in Morgantown too. I had my babies in Preston County with an awesome midwife, but she is no longer in the area. Several friends of mine had fantastic natural births with Gail Rock, CNM. Welcome to MDC!

Here's a link to Gail's info:

Hello and welcome! I'm in WV too..not terribly far from you up in Wheeling. I think Morgantown is about 60 miles away. I don't have any experience with dr's or midwives in that area but I have friends who do and I know there are lots of great options. Oh and if you're interested in breastfeeding I know there is a LLL group there.

Welcome! I also got a lot of 'research' done in the wee hours of the morning when I was expecting. Congratulations!
