How to use Rescue Remendy with infants?

Thread Starter
I keep hearing how wonderful is Rescue Remedy. But is it safe to use for infants? If yes, what is the way to use it?
My 6wo DD2 has episodes of colic once in a while, and I am willing to trying whatever at this point

Thanks
Sophie

I would just use a quick short spray of the spray type of Rescue Remedy. I'm not sure how effective it is against colic or if it is safe to use in a baby so young. If I were you I would ask one of the people working in the herbal/supplement department at my local food co-op. They are generally very knowledgeable and could give you a better idea.

I always just put a drop or two of rescue remedy (or any bach flower essence) onto my nipple, or onto a finger tip that I then let my babe suck on. You could use a paci or bottle too I suppose.

The only concern I can see is that the carrier liquid is generally alcohol... you can dilute it in water and then use the water, or I believe there may be a few "alcohol free" versions (but those go bad sooner, and need to be kept cold). I'm not concerned about one or two drops every now and then, but if you are then perhaps the water dilution option would feel better.

I feel your pain though... colic is horrible! Since you say it's every once in a while, have you tried gripe water? Or checked your diet to see if she is reacting to a specific food you've eaten? My dd1 would have horrible gas pain about 8 hours after I ate peanut butter. I stopped eating PB&Js and the gas pains stopped. It took a little detective work, but not a lot... I think I kept a food/fuss journal for about a week? Just jotting down what I ate, when I ate it, and when dd1 was fussy.

Good luck!

You could get the RR for kids which is alcohol free. I'm not opposed to using a drop of the alcohol based RR though.

For DD what worked was Gentle Naturals homeopathic teething drops, plus swaddling. I always put the drops right into her mouth.

There is also a rescue remedy lotion...great if applied on the feet for absorbtion, again not sure about on a 6 wo

we had really good luck with the Hyland's Colic Tablets. They worked wonders for us when DD was that age!

I love Boiron's Colic medicine--it comes in little pre-measured plastic "vials." It is a bit more $ than Hylands.

we've been dealing with colic with my little one (2 weeks). we've got the premeasured boiron colic medicine. i got it from our health food store because they didn't have hyland's colic tablets. the woman there said they carry the boiron brand instead b/c it is pretty much the same, but not as messy. i've never used the tabs, but the liquid vial is really easy to use. the package says its for infants over 1 mo of age, but i went ahead and gave it to him. homeopathics are so mild that i was willing to risk it. it seems to help.

i have rescue remedy too, but haven't tried it. i might give that a try too.

Hylands colic tablets also help my DS - usually takes 2 doses but it really helps his gas pains.
