Sprout is totally losing his hair. I started to see bald patches the other day, and now there's more bald than hair. If you give a gentle tug on his hair, it comes right out!

jen~ my little boy has the hair line of a 60 yr old...thankfully it didn't retreat in patches it's just gone. although we're starting to get that ring of hairlessness around where they rub their heads while laying on the floor...i HATE that!

we have some cradle cap here too but haven't done anything about it. dd had it pretty bad too and i just left it alone. i do soap on R for baths though...to many dirty kids touching him all the time.

he is starting to grab at toys! soooo cute. yesterday he even was able to grab on and shake one for the first time. i can see those little wheels turning and trying to get that hand and arm to do what he wants and i just melt. also when he smiles he will bring his hands up to his mouth like he's shy or something. so when he grabs a toy, smiles cause he did it (and he sees me smiling about it too) he'll pull the toy to his mouth and lick it!

10 weeks tomorrow. have not taken r to the dr since he was about 4 weeks. not sure whether i should care or not though....the ONLY appts the dr has is at 10 a.m. no other times avail for newborns. with 5 kids there is just no way i can get out of the house at 9 (never been to the new dr so i would have to be early) and i'm not doing shots so i just need a scale really.

Danielle, if we can ever manage to get together again, I'll bring my scale!

Double post, sorry but I need breast feeding help. I posted in the latch thread, but maybe some of you have some ideas?

Something has changed with Cecilia's latch in the last week. She's been nursing more, and now I'm developing swollen "buds" or blisters or whatever you want to call them on my nipples, and one's bled. On both sides they are on the bottom, inner quadrant of the nipple. It hurts to nurse, like it did when she was a newborn. Not happy with this! She's nursing in the same positions and holds as she always has, so I don't understand why the sudden change and pain.

My breasts themselves are sore too, almost like they're engorged (but they're not hard and she's been nursing more so I don't think they are), along the inside of both breasts.

Aimee, so sorry, I know the experienced moms here will have good advice .

Hair: Charlie has that ring too, dhinderliter! Not on the back so much but on either side! Combined with the loss of his first hair only on top, we're working with a three zone "do" over here...

So, can anybody tell me why the AF fairy shouldn't be shot?? Charlie is a great sleeper, but does that mean I really deserve to have gotten back my period when he's 12 weeks??!! OMG, so pissed. It's the gushing And sleeplessness that have me miserable. No good night's rest for me! Grrrrr.

Rant over , sorry

P&H~i know to expect the hair loss all the way around. my other kids got it too. its just from rubbing their heads side to side trying to see the whole world!!
i am also supposing a guess (from the availability of all you lovely ladies info about af!) is that some women have the cylce of AF coming back quickly to reproduce NOW as my AF doesn't come back till a year and i have babies you don't eat through the night. (((hugs))) though cause i would be quite upset as well

no help amiee. i would love to borrow the scale and get a good weight (i feel like a bad mom cause i don't have all those "meaningless statistics" to put in his baby book) I also need a question answered; reeve has not changed his feeding either but i have shooting pain in my left side in the same spot when milks let down/he nurses. its not red or swollen and i dont have a fever so i'm guessing plugged duct?? any special tips cause OOWWWIIIE i cant imagine the pain of mastitiss or nursing problems or powerfell let down if this was constant! R is seemingly having a hard time nursing on that side as well. also (gosh do i sounds like a FTM?) how much milk do you normally think a 2 month old is taking? i pumped a 2 oz bottle and a 3.5 (with him on the breast) only so far.....

I kept doing some research and I figured out that on the right side I have a bleb, and on the left side I probably had one but a scab is all that's left. I will try to get the right one to open today. I'm definitely way sorer on the right side than the left. Both, however, seem less sore today than they did yesterday, so that's good news.

Danielle, I've heard you're supposed to do hot compresses, and try to express milk in the shower where the heat of the water is helping to loosen stuff. Haven't experienced a plugged duct myself though.

I pumped for the first time this morning. Almost 3 oz with a hand pump. I think getting her to take a bottle may be tricky due to her gag reflux but DH is going to try later today. I have a medela nipple and a playtex nurser to try.

aimee - yes a bleb. kellymom has great advice. i did have to open mine, but they came back, so i used a bit of anti fungal and anti inflammatory cream to rid it completely. i think mine were caused by yeast?

Danielle- it sounds like let down. When my milk is letting down..OMG THE PAIN.

so my tiny preemie baby who was 3lbs is now 8lbs. HOWEVER, I still get asked if I am carrying a doll when I go to the grocery store. One woman freaked out and screamed and said "OMG it's alive"..yes, it's alive, it's my son.

So for those who aren't on my FB, J has Pseudohypoaldosteronism (try saying it)...and I won't even begin to try to tell you what it is but I found this http://medical-dictionary.thefreedic...oaldosteronism
SO...J remains on sodium chloride liquid until he is 5-6yrs because then he will be able to eat atleast 5 tablespoons of table salt A DAY(which his body HAS to have) and for the rest of his life.
So as far as breastfeeding goes..I can breastfeed, but he has to have his bottle of pumped milk after with added sodium..and what a pain that is. Only ONE pharmacy can prepare it..the inpatient hospital pharmacy. They drain a sodium chloride IV bag and put it into a medicine bottle for me. The hospital is 30 minutes away.
I guess if your sodium level drops too low, it's kinda like your blood sugar dropping. I have to watch for certain signs, like his soft spot being sunken. If his sodium drops too low, he can have a seizure or a brain hemmorhage and they said they wouldn't be sure if he would make it if those happened scary stuff really. I think his Dr. said it was what happened to Bret Michaels? The bad thing about that also is J has HORRIDLY WICKED dry skin. I lather him in eucerin cream daily. He also had cradle cap, but it's going away. Hasn't lost any hair though, it's just longer.
i hate pumping. I have this daily fear that if I don't pump the same amount or near it, that my milk supply is dropping. My freezers are entirely too full(if you have seen pics on FB). Average is 5oz from my L side and 2.5 from the R side. However, I normally pump 6 and 3oz.

I give J a bath everyother day and I use Aveeno baby on him. I have to...this kid STINKS most of the time.
J has started smiling and cooing at me. It sorta makes me sad because the Dr. said he is behind, even for adjusted age. Now I have two things calling me about early intervention and something else...bah. I wish there wasn't so much pressure. He hates tummy time, so his neck and head aren't very strong and she said he should be reaching for toys..maybe he thinks toys are stupid

CM: Glad you found something on the sores. I've never heard of it. And Danielle, I get this pain with thrush but I also have pain when R latches on. With plugged ducts, I do the warm shower and express. It usually helps a great deal. Our breastfeeding issues are still just thrush. I can't get rid of it When we have the money I'm going to get the probiotic for both of us and see if that helps. At least it doesn't hurt right now.

Erica: R doesn't reach for toys (she's nine weeks). I haven't worried about it as I only had one kid who reached for toys. The others just didn't act interested. R has started to reach out towards my face. I'd watch J and see if he's reaching towards you or anything else he might like. At first, I thought R was just waving her arms around but then after watching, I realized she was aiming for me.

I'm so sorry about J's condition. That is scary. You guys are in my thoughts.

AFM: We saw our midwife yesterday for my last visit. I didn't cry but it was hard. We got some great pictures (I'll put the FB links on the bottom) with her. R weighed in at 13lbs and 3 ozs which is about a five lb gain since birth. I'm pleased. When we left, my ds yelled out to the midwife "See you the next time we have a baby." totally serious and casual. It was awesome. I am so so glad that he got to see the birth and that all the kids got to see a midwife in action.

Oh have I mentioned lately how insanely in love I am with this baby? She is so delish as we say around here. She's cooing and chattering all the time. I love laying down with her and having a "conversation." She smiles a lot more and she's been awake and interacting with everyone. I am smitten!

L lost chunks of her hair early on, and was even missing patches at birth. But it's finally starting to grow in up front just a little bit. People always comment on how much hair she has- but really she just has an alfalfa twirl right on top.

We took her to her second concert last night. This was a full band and I knew it would be loud, so we got her some baby earphones.. Everyone thought she was just too adorable!

We came up to my IL's house after the show and are spending the weekend here. It's sort of nice to have other people who are more than willing to pick her up when she cries. But this morning I was woken up by her coming into our room and *taking a picture of us*. I mean, I'm sure it was cute and all. But a flash picture at 8 am while I'm trying to sleep? I'm glad I had anticipated her coming in... I usually sleep with my boob hanging out! And as I was typing this she said "do you want me to drive you to the grocery store with her in the pack? [pikkolo carrier] I don't see how you could drive like that." DH was like "uh, she has to go in the carseat in the car." She says, "oh, that's right! I forget these things."

I mean, I know it was just a brain fart, and that she would never take her in the car without the carseat. But still.

erickalynne- my babe isn't reaching for toys. these "developmental" milestones are crap. baby will do it. i didn't walk until i was 19 months old (and i turned into a lawyer. maybe that is what is wrong with me!). my DD didn't walk until 18 months. it sounds like you and your baby are doing great.

well my chunker is 13 pounds now. he is growing in his eyelashes - if he gets eyelashes likes his sister, he will be set for life! he still has all his hair. and he sleeps, unlike his sister! i like this.
