toddler, uncirc, sore, discharge help

Hi! I have a 2.5 uncirc'd ds. I noticed last night when changing his diaper that he had some very light greenish/yellow discharge and his penis was a bit swollen. No redness anywhere. He also seems to be pretty sensitive to touch and when he just peed in his diaper, he cried out in tears that his penis was boo-boo. Not sure what this could be? Infection?
He did get pretty swollen half a year ago and his Dr. gave him some cream to help and it did help. He was fine since then. The foreskin has never been pulled back.
Any advice?

This may be separation (which can happen in stages) and smegma. My son had something similar and he is 5. He couldn't even touch his penis, it hurt so much. I am very grateful for this forum because after reading many threads about foreskins, we decided to wait it out. He soaked in the bath a couple of times and in 24 hours was much improved. I can't say how long I would have felt comfortable waiting but I was thinking of waiting 24-48 hours.

I was much more afraid of American doctors than I was of his swollen penis.

One analogy that helped me was his foreskin is like a lip. If you get a little cut on your lip it swells up and can be very painful. When the foreskin is separating, it can be like a little scratch inside.

And last year, what was the cream? It may have helped or perhaps your son would have healed on his own without it and it seemed liked it helped.

It is most likely separation. The discharge was probably smegma. It should clear up in 24-48 hrs.

In the mean time, putting him in the bath should make him more comfortable. Keep him well hydrated so his pee is as dilutes as possible. You can also put some diaper cream on it.

Separation would be my guess as well. A thread you may find helpful http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=764732
