Need opinions (on what to buy)

I'm pretty much talking outloud LOL. I can't decide what to do!!!

Ok here's the deal. I just started cding about 2-3 weeks ago. I have a total of 6 diapers in rotation plus 2 GM's (which I don't use, they are at the diaper store being sold on consignment, I decided I didn't think I'd use them because they were so bulky).
I have:
2 FB (one medium, one OS)
3 BG (medium, AIO)
1 BG OS organic

Yes, I'm washing every single night, ugg! I have a budget of about $60 to extend my stash a little bit. I can buy thru Amazon, using some g/c's I have in there. I do have a friend selling me 3 FB mediums soon.

My DD is 12 months so I've already missed a year worth money-wise and we aren't having anymore kids. So I'm not wanting to invest $300 on diapers KWIM? I am using a disposible at night.

I can't decide...buy 3 more FB for now(which I like because they dry fast) or go the prefolds (chinese or indian?) and thristies covers (duos?) because they are cheaper, though I could prob only buy 3 covers, so that wouldn't get me too far right now LOL.

do you already have prefolds to go under covers? if you don't think you'll be getting any more diaper money soon, id go for covers and prefolds. those three covers can be wiped out and re used, so they aren't a bad investment imo since you can use them more than once between washes. they will last a long time because they are multi sized, and if you dont put them in the dryer there will be minimal wear on them. if you prefer the pockets (i love our fb too), you could try buying used to save some money and get more bang for your buck. there's also the fb seconds store- dont have a link, but you can just google it. almost all our fb are from there. good luck!!

Maybe this will help...

I'm new to cloth but i have some fuzzibunz and prefolds with thirsties duo wraps... We love love love our prefolds and wraps. Especially if you buy some microfleece to lay between baby and prefold to wick moisture but even with out that, its what we use around the house, even dh loves them!

ps. we have 3 covers and that works well to just wipe down and rotate.

I think you should go with prefolds and covers if your not going to buy any more diapers anytime soon. It will definately let you buy more diapers than if you went with the FB/BG. I personally like seperate diapers and covers due to the fact that they tend to wash better and dry a lot sooner plus I have never had problems with stinky dipes or repelling (I use all 100% cotton dipes)

The thing about seperate covers is that they extremely fast and you dont necessarily need a new cover with each diaper change just with bm. You can wipe out a wet diaper and lay in a new dry prefold. Plus I noticed you live in HI so im assuming if you want to do a quick rinse and then hang dry (like I did) by the time you get back to that diaper cover its already dry. For awhile I had a small rotation of covers like that so I would rinse it out and line dry and by the time later in the day I had to re-use it it was dry. I would launder them completely when I did a diaper load.

there are a couple sites online like cottonbabies that sell seconds, so they have minor flaws or stains from the warehouse but are fine otherwise.

In your shoes, I'd be looking to invest in 2 dozen premium prefolds and 4 covers. I'd order 2 dozen premium seconds and 2 proraps from Little Lions. That would keep you under $60. The medium might take you through potty training. Or if you don't mind pinning or using a snappi, get 4 dappi nylon pants. For $ 41 before shipping, you'd be totally set... then spend what you save the first month on getting either nicer covers or an additional pocket or whatever you decide you want to try.

prefold, snappi, and a some covers. Maybe the thirsties duo so you are set till PL . I love our prefolds! You may find some of that stuff on Amazon though I haven't checked.

Have you tried prefolds and covers? If you have and you like them, I would definitely do 2 Thirsties duo wrap size 2
http://www.cottonbabies.com/product_...oducts_id=2074
and 12 chinese premium prefolds, which is around $50.
That plus the fuzzi bunz you already have will be great and the Thirsties covers will go all the way till he's out of diapers. I love the fit of them and do not get any leaking.

If you haven't tried prefolds yet, I would try them if possible before you buy them. I love prefolds and covers but my friend does not at all.
Fuzzi bunz are great because they are easy to get on and off a squirmy baby/toddler but you can't reuse the cover like you can with the prefold/cover.

good luck!

My gut reaction is to tell you that if you like the FB, you should get those, because having what you like is more important than having a lot of extra stuff. And FB have high resale value in the end, too.

But, of course, prefolds and wraps would get you more diapers for the same amount of money, and if you think you might like them and you're not picky about which cover to use, then it's reasonable to go that route. A Snappi and Dappi nylon pants would be the cheapest way to go; or if you want to trifold, then Proraps.

Have you tried the Kawaii Diapers? There are great reviews on them and their covers are only $4.50 and ther AIO are $6.99.. just a thought.... if you order 10 or more it includes the shipping!

Thanks for everyone's thoughts! I super appreciate it!!!

I got some prefolds and I think some flats from a mama who donated them to me, so I might order some covers from Amazon. (that's where my spending money is LOL, i have some g/cs to use)

I think I might also pick up another FB or 2, for now, and maybe try the prefolds/flats at home and the BG and FB while out and about.

If your DD is 12 months old, I think you should look into snap-closure covers instead of velcro/aplix/touch tape. I used velcro when DD was younger but now she just rips it off, and it's no good for the transition to toilet training.
