Do you give non-mama milk?

Kiddo is 17 months old and still nursing strong - usually upon waking, nap, maybe another time during the day, bedtime and at least once at night. I am leaning towards night weaning as we are TTC but I'm still waiting on my first PPAF - hoping night weaning might kick start things. But that would still leave us with at least 3 sessions a day (although if I'm not home, he goes down for a nap fine without nursing).

I'm wondering if there's any need to introduce cow's or other milk? He eats plenty of yogurt and cheese so he gets dairy. Is there any other pressing reason he should have some other milk? I'm in no rush for him to wean though and worry a bit that starting cow's milk could push him in that direction.

So just curious what others with toddlers around his age do

We do cow's milk but it's because I have supply issues and also WOH. For a mama who SAH and doesn't have a supply issue I don't see the point in other milks. It is totally fine for a 17mo to STTN without nursing. If he wants more mama milk it sounds like there is plenty of room for him to add extra sessions in during the day.

I don't give any other milk to my nursing or my 3yo. Neither of them like it and they eat all sorts of other dairy. I talked to the dr about it and he said as long as they consume enough dairy in other forms there is no need for cows milk. They do drink the milk out of their bowls after eating their cereal though lol.

It's the same for us also. DD has 2 sippy cups with formula on her daycare days (twice a week), and will occasionally have a sippy cup with cows milk when she's at home with me if she's sees her older brother having some and wants the same thing he has.

I don't give dd any other milk since it triggers her eczema. She also dosen't eat yogurt and only eats a little bit of cheese. I wish she'd give yogurt a chance, but no dice so far. Dairy isn't absolutely necessary for a healthy kid so I don't stress too much.

My son drinks soy milk with his lunch at school (he is sensative to cow's milk), but at home we mostly give him water and very occasionally juice. He still nurses twice or three times a day. He will be 3 in August.

I drink rice milk because dd was sensitive as a baby and I have just stuck with it so if she asks for milk in a cup (because she sees other kids or me) or wants cereal this is what she drinks. It is prety rare though. She still doesn't eat much dairy which is fine with me. She is 18 months.

No - IMO there is absolutely no need for any dairy products in our diet and it seems rather strange to me that we are the only mammals - apart from cats - that drink another mammals milk - sort of icks me out. Also just to clarify the alternative 'milks' aren't milks at all, they are drinks, ground up nuts or rice or soy or whatever with water added to them - not saying I don't use them I do use them as a substitute for dairy products but not the same as mammas milk.
