I'm about to run out of the store-bought stuff and want to try making my own again. (I did it in the past, but not recently.) Need recipes that work in front loaders....

I found this recipe online somewhere can't remember where, but it works wonderful in a front loading machine and is easy to make!

2 cups finely chopped bar soap I use either Ivory or sunlight (any laundry bar soap or even a castile)
1 cup borax
1 cup washing soda
1/4 cup oxiclean

Mix together well
use 1 - 2 tablespoons per load depending on you water!

make sure to use vinegar in your rinse cycle, I just put it in the softner dispenser!

Here's a similar one:

2 cups finely grated soap (I've used "Linda" laundry soap, Ivory hand soap and Sunlight bar soap)
2 cups washing soda
1 cup borax
1 cup baking soda

2tbsp per load (top load washer) or 3 for really dirty clothes

These all sound very similar to ones I made in the past. I think I even have most of the ingredients on hand...at least for a 1/2 recipe.....

I LOVE that tipnut site! Thanks for the link. Going to try some of the homemade dishwasher detergents too.

I have been using tipnut laundry detergent recipe #4 for a few washes now. It works as well as any commercially made dry detergent, IMO.
