Is this morning sickness or something else?

Okay, so I notice this weird issue that seems opposite of most morning sickness - if I take my zofran, I feel better when I don't eat.

When I wake up and move around in the morning, I am fine. I eat something and 20 minutes later, yuck, I have an intense pain in my stomach that lasts a long time. I try to eat more, but I can't because it makes it feel worse, so I don't eat. A few hours go by, and I feel sick to my stomach (now I believe that is normal morning sickness) so I eat. Again 20 minutes later, pain. And it gradually gets worse for about 2-3 hours until I finally feel normal again about 4 hours later. By that time I don't want to eat anymore because I don't want to go through the pain again. I will say zantac has helped somewhat, but it doesn't last the full 12 hours like the box says it's supposed to.

So I eat dinner early and then go to bed late. If I eat before bed, I actually wake up in the middle of the night feeling worse then if I ate nothing at all.
I almost thought maybe gallbladder, but the pain is directly under my ribs on my left side, where my stomach is, it doesn't move anywhere else, it doesn't seem to match

Is this something serious or just regular old excess stomach acid? I did have peptic and duodenal ulcer when I was 18, that felt better when I had a full stomach, not empty and this is in the same place.

Does it matter what you eat? Is it everything? I have food allergies, and gluten caused me horrible stomach pain when I was pregnant last time and eating it. Eggs too. (My dd turned out to be allergic.)

I hope it eases for you soon!

Side effect of the Zofran maybe? Not every time I took it, but Zofran sometimes gave me really bad paralyzing stomach pain (which then sometimes caused me to puke). It seemed to be related to the Zofran induced general constipation/slow digestion.

So I guess the question would be, what happens when you don't take the Zofran? Are you just nauseous and puking but pain free?

Any chance it's related to acid reflux? Not while pg, but at other times, I've had awful stomach pain (same spot) from having things even minorly acidic (think apple juice) on an empty stomach. It could be very intense and make it painful to breathe. I eventually realized it really as just related to acid and, presumably, stomach acid/reflux.

What happens if you eat very small portions of blander foods? Say, crackers every few minutes?

No, it started before the zofran, and I stopped eating. I cut out sugar and that seemed to helped, then it became everything, so I stopped eating because I had the pain and then I was puking bile. So I went on the zofran so I could at least get the food down.

I am beginning to think that is maybe what it is, and why the zantac seems to help for a few hours.

This morning I had a small bowl of macaroni and cheese and a few hours later had one sausage and so far no issues. So maybe it's the amount of food. I really can't drink anything except water, anything else like juice, causes the pain. I thought it was the sugar, but maybe it's the acid.

I had that same issue with my son and it lasted 20 weeks. My OB tried everything and nothing worked. I didn't have GERD, allergies, etc and it started when my morning sickness started.

I'm sorry I can't help, but I know exactly what you mean.

Have you already tried Reglan? It did nothing for mey NVP/HG but it's whole purpose is to speed up the emptying of the stomach and that sounds like it might help you. Just a thought.

I used it last pregnancy and I don't remember it working but it did give me bad side effects so I had to go off - it made me deeply depressed in a matter of days, so I can't go on it again.
