Need a cape pattern with elastic... Please help!

Hi mamas,

I need to make a cape for DD's friend that has stretchy top with elastic, so she can put it on herself without having to tie it or deal with velcro. Do you know if there is a pattern for it? Or do you know how to make one?

I wouldn't want a cape with an elasticated neck. I'd be worried about the kids catching it on something, mine tend to run around a lot in their superhero capes and I like the velcro to pull apart when they get caught up.

I'd do one of two things, either make an elastic back with a velcro fastening at the front. With the elastic you should be able to make it so it can pop over your DDs head without having to fasten the velcro each time.

The other option would just be to have a large neck, again so you pop it on and off without doing the velcro each time. I used this pattern http://pukingpastilles.com/?p=57 and the neck is almost large enough for DS to get his head through.
