Have you ever made Star Wars costumes?

My baby brother is getting married on Halloween. The reception will be a masquerade ball theme, and everyone is encouraged to dress in costume. My 4yo is Star Wars obsessed and insists that our family will be going in SW costume. I found a yoda costume for my toddler that is pre-made, but I want to make him some little yoda feet slippers because I think they'd be hilarious. DH will be Han Solo, and I'll be Princess Leia. To avoid the whole wearing white thing I am thinking I'll do the costume she wore in Cloud City. DS is undecided, but will likely end up being Luke. Possibly X-Wing fighter pilot Luke, although my mom is making him the white kimono style shirt that he wears on Tattoine.

I'm going to figure out a list of my projects to accomplish, and will probably have tons of sewing questions since I'm an amateur seamstress, but wanted to see if anyone here has experience with such a project.

B&G, I wish I could help you. I even did a quick couple of Google searches to see if I could unearth anything helpful, but alas. I mostly just wanted to beg you: please post pictures!

The things I have found via google are ELABORATE. Like seriously gorgeous, mind blowing and amazing. But I do not have the time or skills needed for what they have done. I have some basic ideas though, and my mom is an excellent seamstress with time to help me. I'll figure it out, but I may be begging for guidance!

Jedi robes would be easy enough to make.
so would that dress Leia wears in episode 4....I probably wouldnt worry about the white thing...but you could use dye or something else to like stain it or something....cuz you know that dress would have gotten a lot of yuck on it when they were stuck in that trash compactor.
Good luck! That sounds like a really cool idea for a wedding!

I made the Jedi jackets (what are they called??) for my boys using a bathrobe pattern. I just made it shorter and then made a wrap around Obi-style belt for it. It was not hard and lots of fun.
