PP Bleeding/Activity Level Opinions Needed

I am 13w2d PP. I have been bleeding red non-stop since birth. It had turned brown and light about 5-6 days PP but then came back. It will ebb a bit then increase. Dr at my 2 week visit said it was due to activity level, but that it wasn't inherantly a problem....that if I didn't mind bleeding for longer than I would have otherwise, than my current acticity level was ok. She said it wasn't harming anything. I have been back at the gym and moving about life since a week after her birth. I feel great but the bleeding is making me freaking nuts.

My question is....if I punted everything and sat on my butt for a couple days would it cut that back? My kids/ToDo's/support network/etc just don't enable me to take it too easy, but the bleeding is driving me insane.

I don't know for sure, and don't have the exact same experience....but about a week after the birth (maybe 6 days) i had a high activity day, and my bleeding did increase. The next day I made sure to stay in bed all day and take it super easy, and yes, my bleeding did decrease, and in fact, has pretty much disappeared since then.

I'd say it's worth a shot!

P.S. do you mean 3w2d, not 13w2d?

I went through something similar a week ago. I was just doing too much and my bleeding became bright red and I started having clots come out (sorry TMI). It got much better after I took it easy for a day or two. I didn't stay in bed or anything, but I did scale-back running errands outside the house and had my DH take over most of the responsibility for our 3 y.o.

I had a similar experience to the other posters. Very light bleeding after the first day or two, like a spot a day. Just needed pantie liners. Then had two days of heavier activity - lots more walking and getting out. Bleeding got heavier. Took it super easy the next day and mildly easy today and bleeding has all but stopped. Give it a try! And...um...should you really be back at the gym before 6w, GF?

When I had my 2 week check-up, my OB told me that I could go ahead and do whatever I felt up to. Part of the reason she gave me the go ahead is because she is a gym rat too. She felt that since I workout until delivery, that easing back in sooner rather than later is fine. Could be that she and I are cut from the same crazy, I dunno. I have been very careful about what I have been doing, mainly because of possible prolapse stuff. After some careful rehab exercises at the gym, my uterus has ascended to normal in the last couple days.

All the said, yes, I do probably need to sit still for a couple days. Truly, exercise is the only thing that helps keep PPD at bay/under control so not doing it, even for a week after birth, was a mental Challenge.

Taking it easy for a couple of days probably would make the bleeding settle. But, my experience has been that it starts again within a day of me increasing my activity again
