Homemade AIO leaks through seams

Thread Starter
Hello,
Can anyone help? Bad leaks through my elastic casings around the legs (where the topstitching is to create the casings). I used PUL fabric and polyester thread, and tried running them through the dryer to "seal" the seams. I've also tried a liquid polyurethane sealant (like for camp gear), which extends leak-free time but still not good. Also tried a thinner needle and shorter stitch length. I'm blowing through my PUL stash so quickly and not a decent diaper to show for it! Thanks!

What is your inner fabric? Try using something that is also 100% polyester and thin, like suedecloth or micro fleece. The wetness could be seeping out through there.

A waterproof layer can only do so much, though, are you sure you have adequate absorbent stuffing to soak up the liquid? Without remaking the whole thing try adding a doubler or so and see if that helps. The method you described is pretty much how I have made my diapers. If you don't have a poly inner that's against the skin that may be your problem as Nicole noted. I did have some wicking in the crotch area when I made some AIO's with birdseye cotton as the whole inner and I think using a microfleece or suedecloth next-to-skin layer would have helped a ton.
