We're coming from England to NY to visit my family and need to have my mom to buy diapers for when we get there. The baby is 11 lb and we need about 40-45 diapers (for nights and camping, using cloth the rest of the time), and a friend told me Luvs are cheap and good. I can't find online though, how much they cost and how many you get in a pack. Can anyone tell me?

Honestly I wouldn't know they exist if I relied on what I see in stores, all I ever see are Huggies and Pampers on the shelves. You can get them on amazon.com though, and have them shipped to your friend. You might want size 2 which is 12-18 pounds, if your baby is 11 now. For disposables we found the bigger sizes fit ok when our baby was borderline between sizes.
228 count luvs on amazon
I can't find smaller quantity that don't come from a third party seller there though
If you can do Pampers or Huggies though you might have more options, especially in regard to how many you have to buy. You can also find them at any wal-mart, drug store, target store, etc, etc. You shouldn't have a problem finding pampers or huggies at stores (but maybe not luvs) unless you're going to be hiding out in the Catskills away from civilization.

We tried Luvs on ds and they leaked big time, especially at night. He was a skinny baby and they just didn't fit right. Huggies fit him much better. You might see if you can get coupons for them. There are also some unbleached diapers you can buy from Target that are supposed to be pretty good. I think these are them:

We started cloth late, so we've tried every sposie on the market. I can't stand Luvs. They feel even more plastic like than other brands, DS develops a nasty rash from them, and they leak.
My recommendation to you would be to go shopping when you arrive and by a small pack of one type of sposie-try it out, if it works for you buy more, if not, buy a different kind. If you purchase a large amount up front of a diaper that ends up causing a rash or leaking you'll be in a bit of a pickle.

I think Luvs stink (maybe even worse than pampers), but that's just me.
If you can order some ahead of time to ship to your mom's house, I recommend Nature Babycare. I've bought the off Amazon and been happy with them (eco-friendly - well, for a disposable, no perfumes or gel beads, and they work well, even overnight). I think they come in about 100 quanitity, though, so maybe too many for your needs.

I really liked them with my kids. It was the only ones I used but its been a few years. You can get them almost anywhere - walmart, safeway, kmart, etc.
It looks like for your baby's size, they come with 58 diapers. Here is a link to all the online retailers that sell Luvs - http://www.luvsdiapers.com/affordabl.../3700010469.do

We use Target brand "Up and Up" is the name, and they work great. I would go with a size 2 for an 11 pounder. They come in packs and boxes. The pack might be a few less than you are looking for.
I would say the same for Luvs. THey are a tiny bit more expensive then the Target brand. I don't like them as much, but they work fine.

Luvs you can find in a lot of bigger stores. Walmart has them. They are cheaper than Pampers or Huggies, but more expensive than generics. I would say all disposables have some issues and no diaper is the answer for anybody. So for the short amount of time that you'll be using them, go for the Luvs since there's just too many choices and nobody's opinion will be the best/worst for you.
Price pampers, huggies 8.99 for 40ish pack
luvs- 7.99?? for 40ish pack
generics- 6.99 approx.
These are regular prices, not sale prices, and they approximately what I remember at walmart.
At that age for us- size 2 diapers and huggies kept in the breastfeed poo, just to toss out another opinion. With coupons, I can get them for the same price or less than generics.
