cleaning a crusty wooden high chair!

I'm aware that this should probably go in Mindful home, but I'm trying here figuring more people would be able to relate and offer tips! But mods, I won't be offended if you move!

Anyway, I really haven't been on top of things and now our stokke (wood) high chair is crusty with dried banana and avocado. The banana especially is super hard. It is not coming off with scrubbing and soap. I don't want to damage the finish. Any tips on how to clean it?

I promise, from now on, I'll be extra diligent in cleaning it after every. single. meal. !

Fill a spray bottle with hot water, put the highchair in the bathtub/backyard/tile floor covered with towels and spray it down really well. Let it sit 5 minutes. Then take an old credit card and gently scrape the dried on bits. You may have to rinse and repeat. But hot water will soften the food a lot better/faster than cold. Once you have the worst of it, a paste of baking soda and water will scrub the last of the residue off. Rinse with vinegar water and then clear water.

I've done two things with my wooden chair.

First - I put hot wet clothes wherever there is crusty stuff & let it sit for awhile. Then I scrape & wipe everything off.

Second - weather permitting - I take it outside & hose it off with the hose & let it dry in the sun - worked fabulously!

For my wooden chairs I pray them with my vinegar and water in a spray bottle let set and then scrub. I have never ruined the finish but maybe I have just gotten lucky lol

thanks for the tips!

I sprayed it with vinegar and let it sit there for awhile (a long while, I ended up forgetting about it!!) and it came off with a scrub sponge super easily! So no need to drag it outside for a good spray, thankfully!!!
