Need advice

I have been seriously considering taking an online course from the local college to get a certificate in Medical Coder. Before I jump in head first, I would like to find others that are either working as a Medical Coder, or going to school for it. I want to know exactly what the job consists of, what range of jobs I can get with this certificate, an estimated salary, and how easy or hard it would be to take these online classes with a child under a year old, and also how realistic is it to be able to work from home with this job, while taking care of my son. Its not mandatory that I work from home, but it would be better for me and my situation.

I am eager to start doing this, but I need to know more information from people who have BTDT.

Ok, maybe I'm being too specific. I would also like to hear from parents who took online courses, no matter what they studied, if they did it when their child was under a year old. I don't know how well I could handle my son and school work at the same time. How did others do this?
