Hello,
I have been having terrible night sweats for a while now.
Any ideas why?
I do not use more than one blanket, that's all and room is usually cool.
Should I go to a regular doc?

After the birth of my daughter last summer I was getting a lot of these myself.
In my oppinion, night sweats are usually caused by hormone imbalance. Most often from sluggish thyroid or low estrogen.
I was able to treat mine solely with magnesium (400mg) and 400 mg of calcium citrate taken 1/2 hour before bed. If yours persists, you can try the natural progesterone cream. Dr. John Lee whites about this in his book :" What your doctor doesn't tell you about premenopause". It is a great book.
I wish you luck, I remember all too well how awful it is waking up every 90 minutes soaken wet! Miranda

I know of a few things that cause night sweats...

1. it's very common to have night sweats following childbirth. many postpartum women have them. it's changing hormones. it will pass...

2. according to chinese medicine it's a common symptom of yin deficiency.

3. frequently experienced by menepausel women.

***try drinking more water in the day, as well as eating dark leafy greens, seaweeds, steamed beets, essential fatty acids... I can recommend you some chinese herbal formulas if you pm me.

How long ago did you give birth? How old are you (sorry;})?
I had terrible nightsweats for about two months after my baby was C-sectioned...horrific! Took months to completely disappear..then I just had swollen joints and carpal tunnel...mind you, I'm very healthy and fit!

night sweats

i have only been having the night sweats on a "nightly" basis for about a month now.
Before that I would have them occasionally.
I am only 20 years old.
I do not eat or drink caffeine or smoke ciggarettes. I eat an almost totally organic vegetarian diet. I am pretty healthy. Other than 2 breast infections I had over 11 months.
My son is 11 months old.

I get night sweats too. My kids are 14 months. It is probably from estrogen deficiency related to breastfeeding. I figured I would just wait it out until weaning--but maybe I will see if any of the suggestions (calcium, magnesium) work for me. No pain, but it did take many months for vaginal dryness to let up. . .
