Treating chicken pox

Thread Starter
DS is on day day two of chicken pox and has a pretty significant case of them. He has had a fever between 102-103 all day today, has taken three naps (generally takes one) and has just been miserable. He isn't really all that itchy, but seems very achy and exhausted. I was able to shine a flashlight in his mouth, and it looks like he has them on his tonsils, and he is pretty much refusing to eat.

Any suggestions on what I can get into him for food or beverages that would be healing? I am a single mama, so can't really get to the store, but possibly could send a neighbor out for things.

I also know that oatmeal baths are supposed to be good for pox, but like I said, he isn't really all that itchy.

He really is one sick little guy right now.

Here is a site that may be of interest:

It mentions brown vinegar, oatmeal, pea water, baking soda, vitamin E oil and honey as EXTERNAL applications

http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com...icken-Pox.html

Same page also mentions carrot and coriander (SOUP) and herbal tea (chamomile, basil, marigold, lemon balm) as well as nothing but fresh juices especially lemon for a few days. Then an all fruit diet.

Mentions warm water enema daily during fast, well ventilated room, mud pack application on abdomen

Very interesting, havent had any direct experience with any of this yet but you can check it out.

Here is the Dr Sears site if you haven't yet seen it:

Here's another suggestion:

"Like other viral illnesses, vitamin C, vitamin A in the form of beta carotene, and echinacea will provide support for the body's fight against the disease."
