DD limping for weeks, any ideas

My 4 yr old dd started limping about 4 weeks ago....she was running around outside and just started limping. No complaining or anything......occasionally she would say the top of her foot hurt (left ft). After a few weeks of limping off and on we saw our ped. so said she was fine because it didn't hurt when he moved her foot around. 2 more weeks past and she is still limping, and she says it doesn't hurt.....but the last few days we noticed it is her right leg that is limping. Any ideas of what it could be........we can't get into the orthopedic dr until late next week. And why would the limping change legs?

Could her shoes be too tight? That can cause intermittent pain on the instep (top of the foot) and limping. And probably wouldn't cause pain just from a doctor moving it around...

This happened with my daughter (who is now 4) when she was 2-ish. We took her to an orthopedist, and it ended up being a virus? that had settled into her hip. Anyway, it was some sort of non-threatening infection that had settled into her muscle which is rather common in little kids and that my orthopedist knew about and was not worried about. It worked itself out.

My mom took me in for something similar around 8 or 9 years old - turns out I had strep with no other symptoms.
